May 29, 2019

The day started off rough, but ended well. A beautiful day for photos - overcast, but no rain. From Calgary, I drove to Caroline, Alberta, for the 2019 Bighorn Stampede Rodeo.

I was pretty certain I had the right directions, until I ended up on a logging road in 12 inches of mud. After a 25 minute detour, I headed back to Caroline to ask for directions. All of this led to me being 45 minutes late for the start and missing the main event.

I grabbed my gear, and headed to my first smaller town rodeo.

Photographed the rest of the day, and met Don and Al, 2 enthusiastic rodeo photographers. We had some shared contacts, and they were very open with the advice. Thanks Don and Al!

Heading to Water Valley on June 1, 2019, for rodeo #2! At least this time I won't have to say "This IS my first rodeo!"
