Ok, I'm not saying it was cold and wet. But holy carp, it was cold and wet.
I thought I was well prepared - in hindsight, I was not. At 4 degrees celsius with a driving wind and some rain and sleet, well, not much prepares you for that.
I arrived at noon and got prepared - 4 layers, with the final one being waterproof - from the waist up. It was from the waist down where I suffered.
After an 8 hour day and missing half the barrel racers due to mild hypothermia, I came back for more on Saturday. On Friday, I was the only photographer on the grounds, along with about 10 guests. Saturday was much better, but that also meant more photographers.
All in all, it was a great rodeo - the officials actually came and chatted with me on the Saturday, as they were impressed to see me come back. Or surprised that I lived through the night. Either way.
Photos coming soon.
